Abstract

Satire is highly prevalent in our society and is increasingly becoming an important source of political information and education. But how can consumers distinguish between satire, fake information, and genuine expression of political opinion? One possible marker of satire is prosodic expression – the tone of voice. Our study investigated prosodic markers of satirical imitation at a text level to shed light on how satirists mark their performance as satirical.
