The SOLARIS Project consortium is pleased to invite stakeholders, policymakers, healthcare professionals, educators, and the public to an innovative hybrid event titled “AI Literacy in the Places of Good Health and Well-Being”, hosted by the Italian news agency ANSA.  The event will be held on 19 February 2025, 14:00 – 16:00 CET, at the European Parliament in Brussels, with web streaming available for online attendees.

The digital revolution has brought transformative benefits to industries, markets, and societies worldwide. Yet, alongside these opportunities come significant challenges, including the digital divide and the proliferation of disinformation, misinformation, and mal-information—threats that undermine trust, transparency, and informed decision-making in democratic and healthcare systems.

In its 2020 White Paper on Artificial Intelligence, the European Commission highlighted the need to address these issues, which later informed the development of the AI Act. Building on this foundation, the event will examine the growing importance of AI literacy as a means of mitigating these risks. Specifically, the event will propose a paradigm shift: moving beyond traditional educational approaches to position AI literacy as a critical healthcare policy initiative.

This new perspective acknowledges that the harmful effects of AI-driven disinformation—such as anxiety, misinformation in public health, and societal division—extend far beyond digital spaces, impacting the mental and physical well-being of citizens. By rethinking how AI literacy is delivered, particularly through healthcare channels, the event aims to inspire innovative strategies for reaching diverse populations and fostering resilience.

Attendees will engage with a range of topics, including:

  • How to equip citizens with the skills to critically evaluate AI-generated content, such as deepfakes and disinformation.
  • Strategies for using healthcare platforms to disseminate AI literacy resources to diverse communities.
  • The role of policymaking, academia, and cross-sectoral collaboration in fostering informed, digitally competent societies.

Through a combination of expert presentations and an interactive roundtable discussion, this event will provide actionable insights for policymakers, educators, healthcare professionals, and industry leaders looking to navigate the intersection of AI and societal well-being.
