Dies Natalis Celebration: Honory Doctorate Barbara Partee

During the 386th Dies Natalis of the University of Amsterdam Prof. Barbara Partee will receive an honorary doctorate for the crucial role she played in the development of the formal semantics of natural language.

In the week 8-12 January there will be four events organised around this festive occasion to which you are all warmly invited.

*Monday 8 January: Dies celebration.

Time: 15:00-17:00.

Venue: Aula of the UvA, Singel 411.

There will be a speech by Harry Buhrman (ILLC) on QSoft. Admission is free of charge, but please fill out the registration form here.

*Tuesday 9 January: Workshop with talks by Barbara Partee on the history of Formal Semantics, H. de Swart, J. Zuidema and F. Roelofsen. You can find all details here.

*Wednesday 10 January: Lecture by Barbara Partee on possessive constructions.

*Friday 12 January: Discussion session.

A discussion session is held where ILLC students have the opportunity to ask Barbara Partee questions on various topics, including her work on possessives, but also her historical-philosophical work on formal semantics and on how formal semantics connects to related disciplines including philosophy, mathematics or psychology.
