Title: Bounded Reasoning and Higher-Order Uncertainty
Abstract. Experimental evidence suggests that individuals often do not reason about their opponents’ beliefs up to arbitrarily high orders, that is, that they have a finite depth of reasoning. This paper develops a novel framework to model the higher-order beliefs of players that may have a finite depth. Higher-order beliefs are modeled implicitly, as in the type spaces due to Harsanyi (1967). The framework allows us to shed light on how individuals can attain common belief even if they have a finite depth.
